Addition: Lakewood, IL
This project involved adding and renovating an existing brick house. The original house was one story built on a crawl space and the owner wanted to maintain the same characteristics.
The design of the additions and renovations involved creating 3 bedrooms one of which is a master suite, a family room, dining room, updated and large kitchen, two car garage, and outdoor living room.
The existing house foot print was used and added on to to accommodate the required spaces mentioned above. A new mud room was included to connect the house to the new 2 car garage.
Brick was salvaged from the original house to be used on the addition on the front and sides of the addition. Lumber and trim was salvaged from the demolition to be reused in the framing and finishes of the addition and renovation.
In floor radiant heat is used throughout .
“Working with Korte Architecture has been a very positive experience. Brian worked through several iterations until the design exceeded my expectations. He took time to explain issues and answer the many questions I had about both the process and aspects of the design. HIs continual support of my desire to keep the project as "green" as possible both during the build process and in the finished product. He was innovative when there were problems and he has continued to support the project through the build phase. I will use the firm again on the next project I have that requires design assistance. “
